I can’t possibly be the only person who has an obsession with throw blankets, right? I mean, I can’t feel relaxed and cozy while sitting on the couch without a throw blanket, especially during the fall and winter months here in Illinois. It’s just not natural. Maybe it’s a “midwest suburban” thing? I don’t know, but I love it and I will continue to embrace this obsession-as will my dog! Who’s with me?!
When I go to Target, I always find myself wandering over to the throw blankets. My requirements include the following: SUPER soft, cute (typically to match my theme/decor in my house), and reasonably priced (if it’s on sale, it’s coming home with me). I used to keep my collection of throw blankets folded up in a basket in our living room, but it quickly overflowed and blankets were everywhere (which drove me insane). I didn’t know it, but I was looking for a solution to this madness.
When I went shopping at this cute shop in Dixon, they had a blanket ladder displaying adorable throw blankets. My immediate thought was “BOOM! Problem Solved! I “needed” this blanket ladder to organize all of my throw blankets!” Next thing I knew, I was handing the sales associate my credit card and the blanket ladder was in my Jeep. The entire hour and a half drive home, I fantasized about where I was going to position it and how I was going to decorate it.
The thing I love most about this blanket ladder is that is has 2 uses: organize my throw blankets and be decorative. As I was arranging my blankets on the ladder, I noticed that the thinner the blanket, the easier is it to manipulate on the ladder- and the cuter it looks. I had a couple thinner blankets, but most of my throws were thick and fluffy (since my #1 requirement is to be SUPER soft). Now, I had a new issue…
My husband wasn’t extremely understanding of me purchasing a blanket ladder to organize all of our throw blankets and then deciding that we need to buy certain throws FOR the blanket ladder itself, but what can I say?! It had to look cute, too! So, I went to Home Goods and bought a couple more thin, seasonal blankets to display (well, I should say my mom bought them for me as my birthday gift- thanks Mom!). My goal is to change out the blankets based on the season and my more-neutral, bulkier blankets will help “decorate” our couch and chair.
I’d love to hear other cute, organizational ideas for my own home! If you have anything cozy to share, please don’t hold back!
P.S. How cute does my blanket ladder look with my Christmas decor?!
